A special German "Thermic" thermoswitch contact structure acts as an ordinary switch. Therefore, the thermal protection ismuch more reliable.
Bimetal is the basis of all Thermal-Protectors. Thermal-Protectors can only be controlled by the temperaturedetermined movement of the stamped round bimetallic disc. Bimetals, by their inherent characteristics, move slowly as the result of the corresponding temperature change. However, the contacts must remain closed until the switching temperature is reached. This is achieved with the addition of a snap-action disc, which compensates for the moving phase of the bimetal.
Standard Current Sensitive Thermal-Protectors

With current carrying bimetallic discs or blades and welded contacts,

the risk of arcing during the creepage phase and the risk of

premature switching caused by current heating.
Temperature-sensitive Thermal-Protectors from Thermik.

With a non-conductive bimetallic disc and contact bearing snap-disc

the contact remains firmly closed during the creepage phase of the bimetallic disc and will instantly

fully open the contacts when reaching the switching temperature.
